2025年5月1日（木）、2KとGearbox SoftwareはPlayStationの情報番組「State of Play」において、大人気シューティングRPGシリーズの最新作、『ボーダーランズ(R)4』の詳細な最新ゲームプレイ動画を公開しました。『ボーダーランズ4』は2025年9月12日（金）の発売を予定しており、対応プラットフォームはPlayStation(R)5（PS5(R)）、Xbox Series X|S、PC（SteamおよびEpic Games Store）です。また、2025年後半には、Nintendo Switch 2にも登場する予定です。
最新のゲームプレイ動画では、『ボーダーランズ4』に登場する 4 人の新しいヴォルト・ハンターのうち2人が初公開されました。ヴェックスは、自身を強化したり、強力な使い魔を出現させて自分と一緒に戦わせたりすることができるセイレーンです。一方、かつてティーディオールの兵士だったラファは、さまざまな武器をデジタル生成できる実験的なエクソスーツを着用しています。ヴォルト・ハンターはそれぞれプレイスタイルが異なりますが、「ボーダーランズ」史上最も進化したスキルツリーのシステムによってさらに強化されます。
プレイヤーは、シームレスに結ばれた広大な惑星カイロスの各地で、冷酷な独裁者であるタイムキーパーに対して戦いを繰り広げることになります。タイムキーパーは数千年にわたってカイロスの存在を隠し、「ボルト」と呼ばれるサイバネティック・インプラントと人造兵士の軍隊「オーダー」によって住民たちを支配してきました。カイロスを旅する中でプレイヤーは、新旧のキャラクターやクリーチャー、敵対的な住人たち、そして異なる特徴を持つ4つの地域に広がってタイムキーパーの圧制から自由を勝ち取るために戦いを繰り広げている個性的な勢力たちと出遭います。旅の途中で集めた仲間たちと共に戦い、ヴォルト・ハンターが操る武器と能力で凶悪な敵を蹴散らしましょう。
