【2025年9月1日、東京】 - エンジェル投資グループであるNewsight Tech Angels（本社：東京都、代表：瀬尾亨、以下「当社」）は、この度、自己免疫疾患の画期的な治療法を開発するAutoimmune BioSolutions, Inc.（本社：米国マサチューセッツ州、以下「ABS社」）への出資を決定したことをお知らせいたします。
自己免疫疾患は、世界中で多くの人々を苦しめる難病であり、既存の治療法には副作用や治療効果の限界といった課題が存在します。ABS社は、この未だ満たされていない医療ニーズに応えるべく、画期的な治療アプローチ（Immuno-corrective therapy：免疫矯正療法）を開発しています。
ABS社の開発する治療法は、自己免疫疾患の発症や進行に関与するとされる可溶型インターロイキン7受容体（sIL7R）を特異的に標的とする抗体治療です。従来の免疫抑制剤が広範な免疫系を抑制するのに対し、ABS社の治療法は、正常な免疫機能に影響を与えることなく、自己反応性T細胞の活性化を抑制することを目指しています。
ABS社の非臨床試験（非ヒト霊長類を用いたパイロット研究）では、開発中の治療薬「ABS-066」が血中のsIL7Rレベルを効果的に減少させ、自己反応性T細胞の活性を抑制することが確認されました。これにより、広範な免疫抑制を伴わずに自己免疫疾患の治療が可能になることが示唆されています。また、sIL7Rは多発性硬化症（MS）や関節リウマチ（RA）など、様々な自己免疫疾患の疾患活動性と関連しているバイオマーカーとして期待されており、治療薬と並行してコンパニオン診断薬としての開発の可能性も秘めています。

Newsight Tech Angels Announces Investment in Autoimmune BioSolutions, a Pioneer in Autoimmune Disease Therapies
[Tokyo, September 1, 2025] - Newsight Tech Angels (Headquarters: Tokyo, Japan, Representative: Toru Jay Seo ; hereinafter “NTA”), an angel investment group, today announced its decision to invest in Autoimmune BioSolutions, Inc. (Headquarters: Massachusetts, USA; hereinafter “ABS”), a biotechnology company developing groundbreaking therapies for autoimmune diseases.
Autoimmune diseases affect millions of people worldwide and remain difficult-to-treat conditions, as current therapies often come with significant side effects and limited efficacy. To address these unmet medical needs, ABS is developing a novel therapeutic approach called “immuno-corrective therapy.”
The company’s lead program targets the soluble interleukin-7 receptor (sIL7R), a molecule implicated in the onset and progression of autoimmune diseases. Unlike conventional immunosuppressants that broadly dampen the immune system, ABS’s antibody therapy is designed to selectively inhibit the activation of autoreactive T cells while preserving normal immune function.
In preclinical studies, including pilot trials in non-human primates, ABS’s investigational drug candidate “ABS-066” has demonstrated the ability to effectively reduce circulating sIL7R levels and suppress autoreactive T-cell activity. These findings suggest that autoimmune diseases may be treated without inducing broad immune suppression. Moreover, sIL7R is emerging as a promising biomarker of disease activity in multiple sclerosis (MS), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and other autoimmune conditions, raising the possibility that ABS’s program could also yield a companion diagnostic alongside the therapeutic.
